Colors and Fruit?!?! Why not?

So I had a great idea to try to emphasize the different color of fruit during breakfast. The night belfore I glued different color construction paper to paper plates. In the morning I placed contact paper over it because I didn't want the juices from the fruit to mix with the ink from the paper itself.  As much as I thought this was a great idea - the kids were caught completely off-guard. They literally didn't touch their fruit at all. This is a BIG surprise, especially for Michael that eats more fruit than most adults (in fact more than 2 adults combined). I left them out and eventually he realized it was real fruit and ate it. I still love the idea and showing fruit different visually is on the list from Michael's OT so even though the response was lukewarm it is probably worth some more exposure to help him continue to be more comfortable with eating food that looks a little different.
